Scope and content

Audio 77a consists of the following recording:
Title: “Praise Chapel” / Dr. Jerry Chip MacGregor – “President’s Chapel”
This is a recording of a Praise Chapel. The first portion until [11:30] consists of an unidentified person (a Multnomah graduate who grew up in the Free Church) singing and playing a piano. A pastor (possibly the same person who was singing) shares about experiences serving as a youth pastor and in Sunday school. The power of God over the power of sin is emphasized. At [17:20] the singing resumes. At [24:41] the singing ends. At [25:34] a new presentation begins. Jerry MacGregor, associate Vice President of Student Affairs, is interviewed by someone named Roger. He highlights his personal life and various careers, his journey to TWU, his work in talking to students about sex, and his work on the campus. He also relates a story about eating a slug. [MacGregor served as Associate Vice President of Student Life at TWU in the early 1990s. He has also been a pastor, author, and literary agent.]
Audio 77b consists of the following recording:
Title: Gerald Vandezande – “Christian Leader in Residence”
Gerald Vandezande , National Public Affairs Director (and one of the founders) of Citizens for Public Justice, is introduced by Don Page, TWU Administrator, who references Vandezande's work advising on issues such as abortion, Sunday shopping, and being Christian in government, as well as his work during World War II. Vanderzande discusses the importance of scripture in life, particularly John 8:12. He examines this passage and its effect on his life. He discusses promoting justice in a pluralistic society, reconciliation, and the influence of Jesus Christ on people to make change in the world. He mentions his admiration of his wife. He discusses advocating for those who struggle to advocate for themselves, including the environment. He argues that resting in Jesus allows for the strength needed. Finally, the students thank him for his work. The recording ends with the song “Shine Jesus Shine”.
