Object is one rectangular leather amulet case with wooden block inside. The leather has been imprinted with a cross hatch design measuring 4.5 cm. The case has leather stitching where the amulet would be fastened to a chain for wearing around the neck. The kitabe was worn by an individual and contained religious texts, in particular texts written in Ge'ez, a liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
