On the back of the cap, there are four eyelets that act as a laced closure. The lace on the closure and its black plastic aglets are black.

The book is bound in black leather with a coptic cross embrossed on the front centre and above in gold written in Amharic is the title "New Testament". The end paper has written in blue ink "R.N. Thompson, Bobitcho, 12.10.51". There is a description card inside that reads: "The New Testament in Amharic language translated by Emperor Haile Selassie while in exile in Britian. Hand Written photographically reproduced in 1946."
