Audio 139a consists of the following recording:
Title: Unidentified Speaker (Peg Byars?) – “Gideon” / Unidentified Speaker - “Ethics” / Dr. Austin Stouffer – “Abandon”
An unidentified speaker, possibly named Peg, discusses the question “Who will accept the cloak of Gideon?” at length. She references passages from Judges 6 and 7, and discusses the importance of shattering one’s own fixed way of thinking and allowing God to shine his light through one. At [14:18] an unidentified man is introduced [by Guy Saffold?], and begins speaking. He discusses how to work around those who have other beliefs in regards to ethics. He takes questions from those present. He discusses the negative aspects of Utilitarianism at length. The recording trails off. At [20:35] another (higher volume) recording begins, with the presentation already underway . Austin Stouffer, Dean of Trinity Western Seminary, begins speaking at chapel on the topic of “Abandon”. He mentions his own recent 50th birthday and draws a correlation between bungee jumping and faith. He encourages students to abandon themselves to God. He cites clinging to one's definitions of wealth, intelligence, sex appeal, and happiness, as the primary factors that inhibit abandoning oneself to God. He concludes with a prayer and is thanked by another speaker. The volume of the recording drops again.
Audio 139b consists of the following recording:
Title: Unidentified Speaker – “The Four Ps of Christianity” / Unidentified Speaker – “Submit to Faith” / Unidentified Woman (Peg) – “Gideon”
This chapel service occurs the day after Aud. 139a. An unidentified speaker [possibly Reverend Ron Swanson, President of the Evangelical Free Church of Canada] discusses the four Ps of marketing: product, pricing, packaging and promotion. He applies these principles to Christianity. He cites several biblical examples to reinforce his ideas. An unidentified speaker prays, thanking God for "the Reverend Swanson.". Students are dismissed, and a praise chapel taking place the next day is mentioned. At [9:28] a South African speaker shares his personal faith journey. He asks the students to submit and surrender all aspects of their lives to God. He ends with a prayer. At [23:59] a woman, Peg [Byars?], speaks on finding God on a precipice above the Fraser River- halfway between Hell’s Gate and Hope. This is possibly a continuation of this speaker's lecture on Aud. 139a. She discusses Gideon at length.
