Title: Ken Davis – Lecture 6 “Anabaptist Lifestyles”
Dr. Ken Davis, professor at the University of Waterloo, and later a TWU Administrator, speaks on the Anabaptist vision for the quality of life in the world and illustrates this vision with several principles for living. He argues for redemptive holiness, prioritizing the spiritual over the material. He discusses the mortification of the flesh and the weakness modern society has for “soft” living. He explores the historical beliefs of the Anabaptists. He argues for brotherhood of vision in Christian life. He addresses the beliefs of the Hutterites, and discusses the creation of a Kingdom vision of witness. He discusses the importance of marriage. Davis encourages students to know the family of God. The recording ends with a musical interlude.
Audio 41b consists of the following recording:
Title: Ken Davis – “Graduation: Address”
Dr. Anderson introduces Dr. Ken Davis, commencement speaker, who delivers a sermon on differentiating between truth and "cheap goods" to a graduating class. He references Luke 14 and illustrates his points with colorful examples such as grocery store coupons and Swedish suicide rates. He discusses the importance of acknowledging the “monster out there” and Christ as protector and saviour. He references Jacques Ellul and supports Ellul’s claim that society must choose between people and things. Davis argues that man can only be chosen indirectly through choosing God. Davis argues against humanism and for the sovereignty of God in everyday life. Dr. Anderson thanks Davis for speaking and introduces Wayne Reese, who leads the group in song. Anderson introduces Rev. Gretzler who leads the group in prayer.

This recording contains a narrative originally used to accompany a slide presentation for Trinity Western College. An unidentified narrator focuses on the importance of Christian ethics in a conflicted, secular world. The benefits of a Christian education and need for a new chapel building are discussed. There are music and sound effects through the recording. President Neil Snider, Arvid Olson (Student Affairs), various students, and Eileen Enarson (wife of founder David Enarson) are featured.
Audio 312b consists of the following recording:

This section contains the sync tones fro the “Reaching the heart” presentation on Aud. 312a. A beep is heard periodically through the recording. There is no narration or music.

Lecture: Harvey Devries on Fundraising

Audio 42a consists of the following recording:
Title: Mr. Harvey DeVries – “A Total Development Program”
Mr. Harvey DeVries speaks to the Christian Stewardship Council in 1979 on “The Complete Development Program” and the concept of “Resource Development” in relation to fundraising. He discusses the importance of building, maximizing, and sustaining resource development, and the role of public relations activities in regards to resource development. Many of his points are illustrated through diagrams drawn on a chalkboard that are not documented. The recording cuts off in the middle of a sentence.
Audio 42b consists of the following recording:
Title: Unlabeled
This recording continues from Aud. 42a. DeVries discusses the importance of broadening the base and strengthening the apex in terms of donations. He discusses the need for proper planning in developing fundraising plans and describes how to develop an accurate projection for fundraising. He encourages careful goal setting to develop a consistent idea of budgets without the peaks and valleys many fundraising programs go through. He then discusses how to assemble a fundraising team. The recording cuts off in the middle of a sentence.

Chapel Service: S.1 Singing - Mr. Cooper; Dippers and Buckets - Dr. Asa / S.2 The Call - L. Ross

Audio 246a consists of the following recording:
Title: Mr. Cooper – “My Journey”; Leland Asa [?] – “Dippers and Buckets”; Unidentified Speaker – “Ephesians 4”
Mr. Cooper, a "converted night club singer," shares his testimony through song at chapel. He performs several songs, some his own original compositions, beginning with "Whither Thou Goest," and then sharing a song he wrote called "Son of Abraham." He sings and accompanies himself on the guitar. The M.C. interjects, saying he should tell the students where he is from. Cooper says he is from St. Lucia in the West Indies. He continues to perform and speak of Christ's great love, to [18:25]. A new recording begins. An unidentified male [likely Leland Asa] speaks at chapel. He shares the importance of “the golden rule”, found in Matthew 7:12. He shares an anecdote from the "olden days" about dippers and buckets. He is interrupted by a bell or buzzer. He continues to speak a bit longer, then leads the group in prayer and concludes at [37:26]. Another recording begins, with an unidentified male chapel speaker reading from and discussing Ephesians Chapter 4. He discusses life calling and the beauty of God. He is cut off in the middle of a sentence.
Audio 246b consists of the following recording:
Title: Unidentified Speaker – “Ephesians 4”; Lancen Ross - "The Call"
This is a continuation of the recording on Aud. 246b. The unidentified male chapel speaker continues his discussion on the importance of putting an end to hatred. He discusses the importance of embracing God. There is the sound of a buzzer, and he closes in prayer. At [12:13] another recording begins. Lancen Ross, identified as working on a part-time basis for Trinity in the area of financial development, is invited to speak. [There are some issues with the quality of this recording, making it difficult to understand.] He discusses what it means to live a Christian life, and to be called.

Calvin Hanson (Past President) - 10th Anniversary Address and Program of Trinity Western College Appreciation / Fort Langley Evangelical Free Church, featuring several unidentified speakers - possibly including Stan Nelson and Bob Thompson

Audio 59a consists of the following recording:
Title: Fort Langley Evangelical Free Church – “First Morning Worship of Service”
This recording consists of the first morning worship services at Fort Langley Evangelical Free Church, possibly led by Stanley Nelson (see note below). There is a reference to the community hall. There is singing, prayer requests and prayer. There is sermon delivered on the stewardship of life, time, and talent. The speaker explores the book of Malachi on the concept of tithing. Bob Thompson is introduced, but the recording cuts off at [28:45] and his address is not included. An unidentified speaker - referred to by the worship leader as "Pastor Heinrichs" - discusses the value of (Trinity) students and the involvement the students have in the church. He refers to his own time studying at Trinity, and states that Trinity Western College prepares students to enter a secular world with Christian values. They close in song.
Audio 59b consists of the following recording:
Title: Dr. Calvin Hanson – “10th Anniversary Address and Program of Trinity Western College Appreciation” / Fort Langley Evangelical Free Church – “The First Speaker”
Dr. Hanson recounts his journey to Trinity Western University. He is cut off at [3:22] and a new recording cuts in. An unidentified speaker, possibly Robert Thompson, discusses how much it means to be the first speaker of the Faith Evangelical Free Church. There are references to the new building and auditorium, and to the speaker's own time in Africa. He discusses the importance of realizing the church of Jesus Christ is not buildings or organizations, but individuals expressing their Faith. This is a Living Church. He discusses John 3:16 and argues that the first requirement of the Church of Jesus Christ is to preach the gospel. He is cut off in the middle of a sentence.

[Fort Langley Evangelical Free Church began as a bible study/prayer meeting in the Norm & Juanita Handy residence in 1972. The first public Sunday Worship Service was January 14th, 1973 in the Fort Langley Community Hall. The church was first established under the name Faith Evangelical Free Church ... The first pastor was Reverend Stanley Nelson who was installed on September 29th, 1973. When Pastor Stan retired the church called Pastor Bill Meir and during his tenure the church built their present facility. The official ground breaking took place in June of 1978 and the first service in the new building was September 2, 1979. All the finishings were completed and a Celebration of Dedication was held on March 2, 1980.

President Neil Snider invites Dr. Thomas McDill, the president of the Evangelical Free Church of America, to speak. McDill speaks at length. He then installs Dr. Ken Davis - formerly of the University of Waterloo - as Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs for Trinity Western College. Rev. David Enarson (Founder) leads the group in prayer. Dr. Ken Davis is invited to speak. Dr. Davis thanks the university and relates his dream for the development and influence of Trinity Western University.
