Writing in the corner reads "Presented to RN Thompson - 9 Sept 64". The certificate is framed in a black wooden frame.

The crest on the front displays a bird and crown in metal and thread embroidery. Size 7 1/4, made by Muir Cap Co. Limited, Toronto, "Contractors to the dominion Government". The hat is lined with red fabric and plastic/vinyl and is from the Robert N. Thompson collection.
