Diane Hamel, administrative assistant for Alumni and Parent Relations at TWU, is interviewed on CBC radio about the American Thanksgiving dinner that she is coordinating for forty students, as well as some parents. She also discusses the number of students - approximately thirty percent of the student population - attending Trinity Western University that are from the United States.

An unidentified man leads the singing of Christmas Carols. Those present are welcomed. Garth Johnson, from the Board, brings greetings and prays. Faculty members are introduced individually. Thanks are expressed. Library volunteers are introduced. Special guests are introduced. The group is led in prayer. There is further singing of Christmas Carols, and music, which is cut off in the middle of a song.

Music: The Son Seekers, Exclusive Design, and The Happy Side

Audio 211a and 211b consist of sound tracks transferred from the following three original record albums held in the TWU Archives:
The Son Seekers - Early Will I Seek Thee (1970)
The Happy Side – Smile God Loves You (1971)
Exclusive Design - We are His Workmanship / Ten Years in the Making (1972)
Aud 211a begins with the Son Seekers album. At approximately the two-thirds mark, the Exclusive Design album begins. This recording ends with the first song on the second side of this album (see below for a song list). Aud 211b begins with side two, song two of Exclusive Design; the song is already underway when the recording begins. At approximately the one-third point, the Happy Side album begins.
These recordings feature several Trinity music ensembles as well as some instrumental music (primarily flute and guitar). Some songs feature a male or female soloist.

Debate: Dr. Paul Chamberlain (TWU Faculty) and Svend Robinson - February 23

Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at UBC hosts this debate on Doctor Assisted Suicide. Patricia Towler, a Halifax lawyer, moderates the debate. In favour: Svend Robinson, who holds Science and Law degrees from UBC, and was elected to Parliament in 1979 as an MP for the NDP in Burnaby Kingsway. Speaking against is Dr. Paul Chamberlain, who holds a PhD from Marquette University and is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at TWU. Svend Robinson speaks first. At [24:35] Chamberlain begins his argument against Physician-Assisted Suicide.;

This is a continuation of the debate on Aud. 167a. Dr. Paul Chamberlain continues his argument against Doctor-Assisted Suicide. At [0:45] Svend Robinson gives his rebuttal. At [11:15] Dr. Chamberlain responds to Robinson’s rebuttal. At [22:00] the moderator opens the floor to questions; both Debaters respond to questions until the end of he recording.

Alumni Reunion: Calvin Hanson (Founding President) and other Speakers

Audio 161a consists of the following recording:
Title: "Sunday Morning Worship Service - Cal Hanson Years Reunion 1996”
An unidentified speaker discusses the Calvin B. Hanson Chapel as the spiritual centre of the university. The group is led in prayer. There is music and singing for the majority of the recording. At [30:30] President Neil Snider leads the group in prayer. He then speaks on the topic of the trinity experience and his gratitude for the various generations present. He reads Proverbs 3 at the request of Calvin B. Hanson. Hanson then speaks on Proverbs 3 at length. He relates several personal and amusing anecdotes. He is cut off in the middle of a sentence.
Audio 161b consists of the following recording:
Title: Many Speakers – “Worship Service Cal Hanson Years Reunion”
This is a continuation of the ceremony on Aud. 161a. Calvin B. Hanson continues relating personal and amusing anecdotes to illustrate his interpretation of Proverbs 3. He discusses the importance of drawing wisdom and spiritual understanding from the Bible. There is music and singing. At [10:00] An unidentified speaker [possibly Benno Friesen, founding member of faculty at Trinity and later Member of Parliament] speaks on the name of the Pillar yearbook. He leads the group in prayer. There is music and singing. Near the end of the recording, someone begins to make an announcement but is cut off.

President Snider introduces Dr. Don Page. Page, Academic Vice President, describes the rapidly changing world. He discusses the importance of righteousness, peacemaking and sharing. He affirms the importance of being a Christian Servant Leader in order to be successful. He discusses the challenges of pluralism, the arrival of a hopeless generation, and the importance of embracing Christianity and finding hope and meaning. He discusses the potential impact of godly Christian leaders and integrity.
