Ethiopian Codex

This Ethiopian codex is comprised of 72 folios bound into seven quires, and contains a number of works praising the Virgin Mary. On folio 1r there is a decorative ornamentation above when the text begins.

Ethiopian Kitabe Leather Amulet

Object is one rectangular leather amulet case with wooden block inside. The leather has been imprinted with a cross hatch design measuring 4.5 cm. The case has leather stitching where the amulet would be fastened to a chain for wearing around the neck. The kitabe was worn by an individual and contained religious texts, in particular texts written in Ge'ez, a liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

The leather has been imprinted with three feathers each feather measuring 1.5 cm in length. The case has leather stitching where the amulet would be fastened to a chain for wearing around the neck. The kitabe was worn by an individual and contained religious texts, in particular texts written in Ge'ez, a liturgical language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

Ethiopian Psalter

This fragmentary remains of a Ethiopian Psalter is comprised of 50 folios bound into seven quires, and contains Psalm 93 through to Psalm 151, the Biblical Canticles, the Song and Songs, and the beginning of the Praises of Mary. On folio 27r there is an ornamental border at the top of the page.

The Bandlet of Righteousness Sensal Codex

This Ethiopian codex is a sensul, an accordion-fold manuscript comprised of 67 folios, and contains the Bandlet of Righteousness a text of the dead.

Opening text in red reads: "In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost", "Mary".

The Psalms of David Codex

This is a complete Ethiopian Psalter codex and contains 151 Psalms of David, hence the codex's name, as well as 15 biblical canticles, the Song of Songs, and two Ethiopian Orthodox works known as The Praises of Mary and The Gate of Light. The codex is comprised of 142 folios bound into twelve quires with 10 illuminations. On folio 128r there is a decorative border to introduce a new book in two columns in the manuscript.
