General note
The Dragons Project aimed to raise substance abuse awareness in British Columbia through dramatization to secondary students. The original project was developed in Pittsburgh by Gillette Elvgren, a playwright working in conjunction with the Adolescent Chemical Dependency Unit of the St. Francis Medical Centre to portray through dramatic performances the reality and consequence of substance abuse.
Pacific Theatre worked with the Alcohol and Drug Education Service in training actors on substance abuse, problems, and intervention. In addition, representatives from BC Alcohol and Drug Programs assisted in tailoring the plays to the specific needs of BC and Western Canada.
