Scope and content

Audio 74a consists of the following recording:
Title: Dave Walker – “Workplace Stress”
Dave Walker, representing the Christian Business and Professional Association (Vancouver), speaks about the changes in the world, including the changing workplace. He discusses the white-collar recession and asks the students to think about how they’re going to handle the pressures of time, performance expectations, and desire for material things. He suggests that an exciting, dynamic spiritual life is the remedy for workplace stress, and calls on three other CBPA members (Ellie Suderman, lawyer Warren Covell and Don Reddig (?)) to address the students.
Audio 74b consists of the following recording:
Title: Chip MacGregor – “Christians and Social Issues”
MacGregor discusses the complex relationship between Christians and social issues. He illustrates this point by discussing the Vietnam War. He then focuses on abortion as a moral issue. He argues that abortion cheapens life and will cheapen life on all levels. He argues that Christians treat abortion as an intellectual issue and need to be active in making a difference. He then leads the group in prayer. [MacGregor served as Associate Vice President of Student Life at TWU in the early 1990s. He has also been a pastor, author, and literary agent.]
