Scope and content

Audio 79a consists of the following recording:
Title: Dr. Charles Malik – “Interview”
Dr. Snider introduces Dr.Charles Malik, President of the United Nations General Assembly from 1958 to 1959, and proceeds to interview him over lunch. Malik responds to questions about his work with the UN, the changes at the organisation, Canada's reputation, other international Christian Leaders, how to be a Christian leader on an international level, the great teachers in his life, and the effect of Christians on North America. Malik’s responses are quiet, slightly muffled, and difficult to decipher. The recording cuts Snider off in the middle of a sentence. [Note: this recording may have taken place during Universities Week.]
Audio 79b consists of the following recording:
Title: Director of Admission – “Welcome Parents” / Dr. Charles Malik – “Interview”/ Ken Davis, Guy Saffold, Neil Snider – “Welcome Parents”
The Director of Admissions [possibly Jim Cunningham] welcomes parents and discusses the make-up of the incoming undergraduate class. This discussion is cut off at [2:45]. The next section of the recording is possibly a continuation of Aud. 79a. Dr. Malik responds to a question posed to him. President Snider concludes the interview. At [5:48] the meeting with the parents resumes. Ken Davis begins to speak on understanding the knowledge God has given to mankind. He discusses the importance of education and the call to serve Jesus Christ in a traditionally secular field. Another speaker thanks Davis for his leadership. An agenda for the rest of the day is laid out. Guy Saffold (Director of Public Relations) is invited to present a video. Saffold encourages the parents to visit the Public Affairs office. A video on student life is shown. Dr. Snider speaks on the importance of a christian education. He discusses the miracle of Trinity Western and recounts some of the details of the university’s founding and history. He includes an anecdote about the Seal Kap farm. He discusses the responsibilities of Christian education and fundraising for the Library. The recording cuts off in the middle of a sentence.
