Title: Various Speakers - “Convocation Address”
There is music and the group is led in prayer. President Snider welcomes everyone to the convocation ceremony. He discusses the motto “Truth unto Godliness”. Several people bring greetings and speak briefly, including Dr. & Mrs. Stan Wilby, Rep. Ross Belcher, Mr. Harry Dion, MLA Carol Gran, Rev. Ron Swanson, and Rev. Doug Harris. Dr. Snider congratulates Dr. Don Page on his appointment to the office of Academic Vice President at TWU.
Audio 96b consists of the following recording:
Title: Various Speakers - “Convocation Address”
This is a continuation of Aud. 96a. A speaker discusses the importance of donating to scholarships and bursaries at Trinity Western University. There is music and singing. Dr. Snider invites Dr. McDill (EFCA President, 1976-1990) to speak on the installation Dr. Don Page - formerly resident historian with the Department of External Affairs, speech writer, policy analyst, and head of the Policy Development Bureau - to the office of Academic Vice President at TWU. The group is led in prayer. Dr. Page acknowledges the honour of being appointed AcademicVP, and speaks on his commitment to the position. There is more music and singing. Dr. Page speaks on the nature of "Liberty, Freedom, and Accountability."
Audio 96c consists of the following recording:
Title: Dr. Don Page & Various Speakers - “Convocation Address”
This is a continuation of Aud. 96b. Dr. Don Page explores five areas in which Trinity Western University expands the liberty of thought and action of its students. This includes discussion of the integration of discipline and faith, accountability, conviction, and the importance of accountability toward God. He illustrates his point of view with personal stories on his experiences working in government in Ottawa. He discusses the importance of prayer. There is music and singing. Dr. Ken Davis (TWU Administrator) welcomes new additions to the 1989/1990 full time faculty, including David Carter, Education; Andrew Gutteridge, English; Jake Hintz, Biology; Dr. Dennis Stoutenburg, Religious Studies; Michelle Mastering, Business; Dr. Dan Brinkman, Psychology; Charles MacKnee, Psychology; Sandy Lundberg, Resident Director; Karen Gorenson, Resident Director; and Dr. Kelsey Haskett, French. Dr. Davis begins the awarding of graduate degrees. These are the second and third graduate degrees presented at Trinity Western University and are MAs in Ministry.
Audio 96d consists of the following recording:
Title: Various Speakers - “Convocation Address”
This is a continuation of Aud. 96c. Dr. Don Page discusses the history of fall convocation and begins the awarding of bachelor’s degrees. Dr. Page reads a list of graduates' names. A reception will be held in the Fraser Hall lounge. There is music and more singing.
