Scope and content

Audio 102a consists of the following recording:
Title: Dr. Don Page – “Leadership and Integrity”
Dr. Don Page, Academic Vice President, speaks at Chapel on the topic of leadership. He asks the question, “Where are the leaders of integrity in the future going to come from?” He asserts the importance of having a program that develops leadership in the marketplace. He argues that leaders are not born, but developed. He discusses various ways people can come into positions of leadership without learning how to be leaders. Leaders require training, vision, and enthusiasm. He argues that Christian leaders care more about the well-being of the people beneath them than about self-promotion. He provides four guidelines for servant leadership and leads the group in prayer. At [21:00] the chapel service from the following day begins. Page recaps the previous lecture. This section focuses on the importance of integrity in leadership. He lists three traits given in Exodus 18 to find leaders: the fear of God, trustworthiness, and hatred of dishonest gain. He defines integrity as wholeness and completeness before God. He discusses the ethical question of academic cheating. He discusses the difficulty of the secular world. He uses Daniel as an example of how to deal with secular people and remain true to the will of God. He illustrates his points with several personal stories. Finally, he leads the people in prayer.
Audio 102b consists of the following recording:
Title: Dr. Don Page – “Leadership and Integrity”
Dr. Don Page speaks at Chapel on the issue of integrity. He illustrates the struggle to act in an ethical manner with personal stories from his own life. He discusses the effects of ethical standards on long-term success. He also uses several examples of companies acting in an ethical and unethical manner. He uses the examples of Samuel and Saul. He discusses the impact of the integrity of the students on the reputation of the University and the power and influence of the students. At [23:22] a different chapel service begins. President Snider introduces Dr. Bruce Nicholls, currently serving as a missionary in India. Nicholls discusses the call he and his wife have felt to missions. He argues that the whole church needs to spread the whole gospel to the whole world. He illustrates the importance of this through personal stories of his missions work. He believes the church is God’s agent for change in the world. He discusses Acts 1:8. The recording cuts out in the middle of a sentence.
[The Theological Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) (formerly World Evangelical Fellowship, WEF) was established in 1974 with Reverend Bruce J. Nicholls as director; he served in this role until 1986. Nicholls was a career missionary in India working in theological education and pastoral ministry with the Church of North India. He was also editor of the Evangelical Review of Theology for eighteen years, and later editor of the Asia Bible Commentary series.]
