Neil Snider (President of TWU and of Trinity Western Seminary) opens the Associated Canadian Theological Schools (ACTS) seminaries at Trinity Western University. The group is led in prayer by Rev. Doug Harris, President, Northwest Baptist Theological Seminary (NBTS). There is music and singing. Dr. Snider reads letters of encouragement from other organizations. Dr. Ken Davis (TWU Administrator and ACTS Coordinator) relates the history of the formation of ACTS. Dr. Larry Perkins Academic Dean, NBTS) reads from 2 Corinthians 5:9-21.
Audio 148b consists of the following recording:
Title: Dr. Neil Snider, Dr. Walter Kaiser – “ACTS Opening”
This is a continuation of the ceremony on Aud. 148a. Dr. Neil Snider invites Dr. Walter Kaiser, Vice President and Academic Dean of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School [1980-1992] to speak. Dr. Kaiser speaks on the difficulty and importance of creating a faith-based education. He uses biblical passages to emphasize his views on the role of the ministry and of the seminary. He is cut off in the middle of a sentence.
Audio 148c consists of the following recording:
Title: Dr. Neil Snider, Dr. Walter Kaiser, Rev. Abe Funk, Dr. Donald Reed, Rev. Ron Swanson – “ACTS Opening”
This is a continuation of the lecture by Dr. Walter Kaiser on Aud. 148b. He speaks to the importance of training those who enter into church service. Important guests are recognized. Rev. Abe Funk [Executive Director, Baptist General Conference of Canada from 1984 to 2002] is invited to speak. Dr. Donald Reed (Administrator and Secretary, Fellowship of Regular Baptist Churches of BC) is invited to speak. Rev. Ronald Swanson, President, Evangelical Free Church of Canada, is invited to speak. Three students (John Wyness, Dinesh Prasad, and Andrew Beltz) are invited to speak. [The last two minutes are difficult to understand, due to the poor quality of the recording.]
Audio 148d consists of the following recording:
Title: Dr. Neil Snider, Students, Rev. Barrie Palfreyman – ““ACTS Opening”
This is a continuation of the ceremony on Aud. 148c. [This recording has quality issues that make it difficult to understand.] Three students share their journey to ACTS. Those present are led in prayer. Dr. Snider invites Rev. Barrie Palfreyman, Vice President, Canadian Baptist Seminary, to speak. There is music and singing. Finally, the group is led in prayer.
